The Centre for Corporate Connections was proud to host the second Babcock DRIVE Deliver Showcase event on April 14 which saw the culmination of work from the recent cohort of the Babcock DRIVE Deliver module.
Participants returned to Strathclyde Business School after four months spent working on their individual stretch projects where they had applied the learning and practical tools introduced to them during the Deliver module to live projects and exiting challenges arising from within their business units.
The presentations were given to a judging panel led by Module leader Marisa Smith from the Department of Strategy & Organisation supported by Module Sponsor Gerry Moy, Operations Director at Network Engineering and Ian Henry, Programme Director for Babcock LEAD & DRIVE from the Business School.
It was a closely run competition with a range of diverse projects explored but Andrew Bushell, SHEQ Manager of Control Systems at Network Engineering was awarded the prize on the day for his skilful application of the techniques on a customer satisfaction project within his division.
The DRIVE programme is designed to enable Babcock’s leaders to overcome the challenges facing their business units by bringing the learning and application of new skills together through the support of leading subject experts. All the participants presenting at the Showcase demonstrated very concisely exactly how they had employed the practical theories taught to deliver sustainable improvements to the business and it was certainly a day to celebrate their successes.
The previous month, managers from across the Babcock International Group attended the second cohort of the DRIVE People module here at Strathclyde Business School.
Led by Oliver Crane, participants spent this two day module focusing on Employee Engagement and how they could develop their understanding of engagement, develop employee performance through ‘coaching for success’ and establish habits of excellence which support the objectives of the business units.
Supported by Module Sponsor Richard Bowman, Project Managing Director for Cavendish Boccard Nuclear Limited, the participants worked in small groups developing practical skills on how to encourage a culture of collaboration through team working. Individually, participants devised personal action plans which they will continue to work with over the next six months before returning to Strathclyde to present their progress in their Showcase event in September.
The Babcock LEAD & DRIVE programme is a range of bespoke Executive Education modules for middle and senior managers tailored to address the diverse needs of the business from Managing People and Change to Leading Transformational Change.
