Keynote speech for HRM head

Professor Tom Baum (Human Resource Management) was Keynote Speaker at the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s Regional Forum and Training Program on Human Capital Development in Tourism in Seoul, Republic of Korea, recently.

Professor Baum’s talk on the role of human capital development with sector policy development focused on the widespread neglect of this area and showcased Glasgow’s inclusive approach to policy development in this area in the city’s forthcoming Tourism Strategy.

He also worked with over 40 participants from 20 countries in the Asia Pacific region on developing approaches to incorporate human capital/ employment considerations into policy and planning at a national level. While in Korea, he met with the Secretary General of UNWTO, Taleb Rifai and discussed how SBS could work with UNWTO in this area.

Professor Baum also recently visited Utalii College, Nairobi, Kenya to support colleagues in the development of research in the institution.
