At the QAA's (Quality Assurance Agency) 13th Enhancement Themes Conference in Edinburgh, which was held in June, Andrew Paddison of the Department of Marketing made a 'lightning talk' presentation entitled 'Employability and Knowledge Exchange: the application of Reality-Based Learning'.
This presentation outlined how this learning method could enable the marketing curriculum to be made more relevant and attuned to industry practice through the integration of industry trade publications. Within different stages of the student journey, whether one was a prospective student or else an undergraduate and, finally, a prospective graduate that is looking to maximise their employability, the presentation scoped out how trade publications could become an integral aspect of the curriculum. In addition, Andrew chaired one of the breakout sessions.

The project benefited from an excellent advisory team including Dr Beverly Wagner from the Department of Marketing, Mr Graeme Russell from Howden and two associates, with the second associate – David Grant – having been shortlisted for the Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards in the category ‘Skills Development’.
