Management science doctoral student presents to Durham Energy Institute advisory board

Agnessa Shpakova, a doctoral student of Management Science department, was invited to deliver a presentation based on her PhD research to the advisory board meeting of the Durham Energy Institute (DEI), which took place in the historic building of Durham Mining Association on October 12.

Agnessa's presentation focused on the Knowledge Management (KM) practices in the companies of the energy sector developing a roadmap of the emergence and evolution of KM in the companies as well as of the technology that could support KM practices. The underlying research project comprised multiple case-study analysis of 6 UK-based companies from the energy sector.

The meeting was attended by representatives from different industries, regulatory bodies, third sector and universities, such as DONG Energy, IBM, Ernst&Young, Ofgem and Durham University. Other topics discussed included the future of the energy market, the role of Africa in it and the challenges of powering Africa, the collaboration with EPSRC (Centre for Energy Systems Integration project) and the Centre for Doctoral Training in Energy.
