Scottish Power Foundation scholarships available to SBS students

The ScottishPower Foundation has approved its scholarship programme for 2017/18 and Strathclyde has been re-selected to participate in this. Students applying for the MSc in Global Energy Management and MSc Data Analytics are eligible for the scholarships.

The number of scholarships for UK students has been extended from 18 to 28 which illustrates the commitment that the Foundation has to supporting the next generation of industry leaders in the energy and environmental field.

Since it was launched in 2010, the ScottishPower Foundation has invested more than £850,000 in the programme but 2017 is set to be the biggest funding year yet with approximately £700,000 being invested. Applications for the programme opened on Thursday, February 9 and close on Friday, 7 April at 1pm.

Scholarships will cover enrolment costs for one calendar year full time masters level course only and the provision of a generous monthly living allowance. Successful recipients will also be invited to an Awards Ceremony in Madrid (an all expenses paid trip), receive mentoring/support from the company and access to attend relevant networking/careers events and seminars. They are also given preferential consideration for the Scottish Power Graduate Training Programme following completion of their studies.

To provide more information for interested students, the ScottishPower Foundation will host two Information Sessions on its 2017 Scholarship Programme.

In each session, the Foundation's Scholarship Coordinator, Phil Duffield, will give a short presentation on the programme, covering its aims/objectives, level of support, eligibility and application procedures. After this, some existing Strathclyde scholars will chat about their experiences to date - from the all-expenses paid trip to the Awards Ceremony in Madrid, the financial support, mentoring/support from ScottishPower, to the ability to attend relevant networking/careers events and seminars, and their preferential consideration for the company Graduate Training Programme.

Both information sessions will be held in room R215, level 2, Royal College Building, 204 George St and will take place on:

The sessions are open to UK applicants and existing final year UG students considering MSc study. There is no requirement to register in advance - just turn up on the day.
