Professor Greet Vanden Berghe from KU Leuven in Belgium had an exciting research visit at the Department of Management Science in January, where she met various members of the Optimization Research Group.
Greet is an internationally renowned expert in the theory and applications of scheduling, and she is an associate editor of Journal of Scheduling. Greet chairs the Computer Science department at KU Leuven, where she also leads the CODeS (Combinatorial Optimization and Decision Support) research group.
During her visit, Greet gave a seminar entitled "Personnel scheduling in health care" based on her extensive expertise in the practice of this active research area as well as her invaluable perspective on the state-of-the-art methods and software. Her visit also involved various discussions with researchers from the Strathclyde Artificial Intelligence and Games (SAIG) Research Group at Department of Computer and Information Sciences for potential multi-disciplinary projects.
