Successful outcome for Management Science MSc Placements

A core part of Management Science's MScs in Business Analysis and Consulting, and Operational Research is the chance for students to complete three week work placements and projects each year. This initiative is designed to demonstrate the student's skills and competences, and, to give them experience of the role of analyst and consultant in an organisation. This January, more than 60 MSc students engaged with external organisations like Aegon, NHS Scotland, Trinity Mirror and Diageo.

While some organisations are household names, there was a diverse selection of sectors and sizes. Students worked in Financial Services, Manufacturing, Food & Beverages, Health, the Third sector amongst others. The size of organisation ranged from kitchen table start-ups to institutions with revenue running into billions, and organisations with complex stakeholder requirements.

While the organisations, projects, and experiences varied, they all shared a requirement for the kind of analytical thinking that this MSc course develops.

Dominic Finn, Teaching Associate, said, "A thank you is necessary to the organisations and contacts we worked with - to both the new organisations and those who continue to support us. Special thanks to Strategic Partners who helped place students. These placements continue to be valued by students, and often lead to summer projects, full time employment and further research opportunities."
