Scottish MBA Employability Conference

The Scottish MBA Employability Conference, organised by Irene Aitkenhead Taylor, Career and Professional Development Manager, was held at Strathclyde Business School (SBS) on March 3. Building on the success of previous collaborations, the event involved over 100 MBA students from SBS, University of Edinburgh Business School and Adam Smith Business School (University of Glasgow).

Along with the students, over 50 company representatives, alumni and industry experts attended. Five industry-specific panels were held throughout the day, which included the more traditional areas of finance and consultancy, along with entrepreneurship, diversified industries and a highly popular panel on growth and innovation.

The main keynote presenter, Charlie Reeve, is a renowned speaker in the concept of Growth Mindset, the understanding that abilities and talent can be developed, for hiring and business success.

Representatives from Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International - along with 15 client companies - joined the final part of the event, which introduced students to companies keen to work with an MBA student on growing their markets internationally - already a number of students have been confirmed in projects with the businesses concerned.

Feedback from all the participants, students, speakers, companies and panellists, was incredibly positive and the aim of the event - to build a dialogue and exchange of information, creating an understanding of the challenges companies face and the skills required to meet these challenges - was successfully achieved.
