Global Energy Management students' exchange visit to Paris

The Global Energy Management students went to Paris for the Energy Management Exchange Programme. Each year, the students organise the trip exchange which also sees students from the Energy Finance Carbon programme at Dauphine University in Paris visit Glasgow.

In Paris, students enjoyed visits and guest speakers with companies such as RTE, Enedis, Schneider Electric and EDF.

The Glasgow leg included a Civic Reception at the City Chambers hosted by Bailie Liz Cameron, and seminars including the following speakers: Alan Hendry, Director of Sustainability, Jacobs; Roddy Yarr, Sustainability & Environmental Management, University of Strathclyde; Christine Downie & Julie Robertson, Glasgow City Council, and Richard Bellingham, Director, Institute for Future Cities University of Strathclyde.

The final day of the exchange included visits to the following sites: Glasgow Recycling & Renewable Energy Centre; Commonwealth Village District Heating Centre and a demonstration of Intelligent Street Lighting on Gordon St.

Global Energy Management guest speakers during March included: Rt Hon Professor Charles Hendry; Adam Bruce, Mainstream Renewables; Hazel Seftor & Alex Gorman, Wood Mackenzie; Kirk Mayes and Marc Cowen, GE.

Teaching is now complete and the students are now looking to begin internships/placements after the examination period.
