Marketing Professor appointed chair of the Academy of Marketing

Professor Anne Marie Doherty of the Department of Marketing has been appointed Chair of the Academy of Marketing. The Academy of Marketing is the major UK-based, but globally facing, academic marketing institution. As a Learned Society its role is to advance Marketing knowledge and it is the pre-eminent academic marketing organisation in the UK.

This is a significant accolade acknowledging Professor Doherty's role in developing and promoting the discipline and now leading its development in the UK going forward. Previously Professor Doherty was Deputy Chair of the Academy and also Chair of the Academy's Research Committee.

Another prestigious appointment has seen Professor Doherty reappointed to the Royal Anniversary Trust's Readers Panel, which assesses the Queen's Anniversary Prizes for Further and Higher Education. This is an invited appointment and highly prized. Awarded biennially, the Prizes are part of the British Honours System and acknowledge world-class excellence and achievement.

She has also had a paper accepted by the Harvard-based ABS 4* rated journal Business History Review. The paper entitled 'The Origins of American International Retailing: Tiffany in London and Paris, 1837-1914', explores the very early international operations of what is now one of the most notable global luxury brands, Tiffany &Co. The work is part of an ongoing relationship with Tiffany involving Tiffany's corporate archive.
