As part of Marketing Works, which is an integral part of the Department of Marketing's MSc programmes, the six finalists presented at the Grand Finale on June 13. This year there were 33 groups in all undertaking consultancy projects for their clients.
From these six finalists, the judging panel of Professor Anne Marie Doherty and Fiona Stewart of Bright Signals awarded the first prize to Bute Island Alliance (Project 1), who focused on identifying visitor segments to the island. The second prize went to USSA (Home from Home), who focused on the perceptions of international students towards the student union, with the third prize going to Golspie Inn (Scotland) with their focus on exploring the potential of the Chinese tourism market.
All the presentations were of an extremely high standard, but the judging panel considered these three groups to be especially noteworthy.
The co-ordinator of Marketing Works, Andrew Paddison (Director of Postgraduate Programmes) said, "I'd like to thank Professor Anne Marie Doherty and Fiona Stewart of Bright Signals for their input, and thanks also go to Mary Hughes for ensuring that the event ran very smoothly and to the respective supervisors for helping the students through the process."
Paul Duffy of Bute Island Alliance said, "It's been great to be part of the 2017 Marketing Works programme and we're thrilled that one of the groups looking at Bute did so well!".
