Scotland and Ireland join forces on Fintech research

Enterprise Ireland in conjunction with the Irish Consulate in Edinburgh announced the launch of the Scottish Irish Finance Initiative in collaboration with the Centre for Financial Regulation and Innovation, Strathclyde Business School on April 27.  Strathclyde will contribute expertise and undertake research as part of the initiative, particularly in the new and rapidly growing fintech arena.

The launch evening included a discussion on enhancing the links between Scotland and Ireland's vibrant financial industries. In attendance were a number of Enterprise Ireland financial services companies focused on the funds industry as well as industry professionals from the asset management and banking space in Edinburgh.  A short talk was given by Dr Devraj Basu from the department of Accounting and Finance, Strathclyde Business School.

Daniel Broby, Director of the Centre for Financial Regulation and Innovation, commented, "Research into distributed models of financial transactions and payments will play to the strengths of both the Scottish and Irish financial markets.  The best way to collaborate is by focusing on the future and ensuring that the right conditions are in place to make that beneficial for all."
