MBA 25 in Stockholm for Family Business Elective

Students on the MBA25 programme travelled to Stockholm to take part in the Family Business Elective delivered from June 13 to 16 in partnership with Stockholm School of Economics.

Dr Annelie Karlsson, Executive Director of Family Business Network, delivered the module along with Dr Niall Mackenzie of the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship

The elective was attended by 13 participants from cohort 3 of the MBA25 and 11 Senior Management members within William Grants & Sons.

Visits were made to a number of family business organisations. Participants attended Upplands Motor, a concept store for Volvo Cars where they met the CEO and Family owners the Lindström family. The group was hosted by Filippa Lindström, Anders Lindström, and Kent Jonsson (CEO).

Another visit was to Spendrups Bryggeri . Spendrups is the largest independent brewing company in Sweden, dating back to the 1800 century. The business is held by a foundation and managed by the Spendrup family for the fourth generation, and the group was hosted by Ulf Spendrup and Fredrik Spendrup (CEO).

A visit to the Bonnier Family Mansion was also lined up for the MBA25 cohort where they met hosts Erik Hægerstrand, CEO Bonnier Holding, and Hans-Jacob Bonnier, family ambassador. The Bonnier family celebrated 200 years in publishing in 2004. Today, it is owned by more close to 100 family members, employs 10000 and has successfully built operations in North Europe and United States.
