Understanding the Scottish economy: one day FAI course on offer

The Fraser of Allander Institute is offering businesses, large and small, the chance to gain essential insight into the Scottish economy and how it impacts on their organisation.

Business faces challenges on many levels - there are difficulties in the oil and gas sectors, uncertainty surrounding Brexit, new opportunities in technology, and the emerging economies of China and India providing competition.

Identifying and interpreting changes in economic conditions can give businesses and public sector organisations an edge. But for many, accessing clear and impartial information on how the economy is tracking can be anything but straightforward. This one day course aims to help participants follow economic developments and be able to relate them to their organisation's day-to-day work.

As part of the course, Times journalist Alf Youngwill provide an overview of his take on the Scottish economy over the last 40 years and his reflections on how it has changed.

The course will cover:

The course is designed for professionals in the private, public and third sectors who are interested in gaining an understanding of the economy and its impact on their organisation. It does not require any prior formal background in economics.

The course takes place on November 28 from 9am to 6pm at Strathclyde Business School, and costs £350, with a discount for public and third sector attendees. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
