January placements for Management Science students

A defining characteristic of Management Science's MSc in Business Analysis & Consulting is the opportunity for students to complete three week work-based placements and projects.

Throughout January, more than 60 MSc students engaged with external organisations like Aegon, NHS Scotland, Rolls Royce and Edrington. This initiative is designed to demonstrate and enhance the student's skills and competences. Students get valuable experience of the role of an analyst, and make progress on an issue important to the client organisation. The organisations get a fresh perspective on a problem, and, a chance to look at potential employees.

While some organisations are household names, there is always a diverse selection of sectors and sizes: students worked in Financial Services, Sports Science, Food & Beverages, Health, and Government amongst others. The size of organisation ranged from start-ups to institutions with revenue running into billions, and organisations with complex stakeholder requirements. While the organisations, projects, and experiences varied, they all shared a requirement for the kind of analytical thinking that this MSc course is designed to deliver.

Programme Directors, Kerem Akartunali and Mouhammad Ali Agha, expressed their appreciation of students and host organisations. "We want to thank the organisations and contacts we worked with to establish this year's programme. These placements are always valued by students, and we'd like to put on record our thanks to them for their effort in making this programme a success."
