Marketing students in final of The Pitch

Five Marketing students have been named finalists in 'The Pitch', an annual competition with UK Universities held by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) under the supervision of Marketing's Thomas McAlinden and Dr Maria Karampela.

The Pitch is a nationwide marketing competition for students, designed to recognise and reward the marketing talent of the future. In small teams, students have to tackle a marketing challenge set by this year's sponsor and pitch to real industry leaders.

The Challenge this year was: How can Wilkinson Sword step change the recruitment of young men and women into their shaving range and build a band of advocates? There are 12 teams in the final, with the top prize including £2,500, winner of the "Marketers of the Future" award at CIM's Marketing Excellence Awards, up to three VIP tickets to the awards and one year complimentary CIM membership for each team member.

The final is due to take place on March 15 2018 with the winners announced at the annual Marketing Excellence Awards in April 2018.

The students are for the Gladius team: Sandra Rijnberg; Christos Nicolaou; Mans Dalvig; and for the Strath Gen Z team: Ellen Grieve and Roxanne Colinet

Thomas McALinden said, "Five students in total have managed to get through to the final of the Chartered Institute of Marketing's annual student competition 'The Pitch' along with 10 other finalists from other universities. This is an incredible achievement with two groups from the same university reaching the final."
