Research project is ‘success story’

Professor Colin Eden and Professor Susan Howick (Management Science) have been involved in a 4.6 million euro H2020 funded project for the last 3 years focusing on European City Resilience. The project included a co-creation process with seven European cities that resulted in a European Resilience Management Guideline being produced that contains five newly created tools to support cities in increasing their resilience. Three new European standards were also created based on the work.

The project completed in July 2018 and the final review by the European Commission concluded that “the project has been identified as a ‘success story’”.

The European Commission also commented that: “The project has delivered exceptional results with significant immediate or potential impact” and that “The main results and achievement of the project are in providing a best practice example of scientific-practice learning loops, transdisciplinary and effective peer-to-peer learning for practitioners regarding emerging issues, and practicable tools bringing innovation to current practices”.
