Strathclyde executive development cohorts continue their Strathclyde journey

Babcock Senior Leaders MBA induction

April saw the completion of a two day induction for students onto the Senior Leaders MBA programme, for corporate client Babcock International.

A hugely diverse group of students from across the UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy and South Africa, all with varying specialisations, came together.

Part of their two day induction at Strathclyde Business School included an afternoon session on the Learning Manager. This allowed the team to get to know each other and explore their own learning types.

The Strathclyde Senior Leaders MBA is a flexible Masters programme supporting the development of future senior strategic leaders. The programme ensures minimal time away from the workplace, utilising a combination of online learning supported by a series of face-to-face workshops and personal development activity. This MBA has been developed following the Degree Apprenticeship standard.

Kevin Goodman and Craig Smith from Babcock joined the group for the reception evening, and the students will be welcomed back to Strathclyde Business School in May for an intensive Finance module.

Iberdrola MBA in the Global Energy Industry

Cohort 4

The fourth cohort on the bespoke Iberdrola MBA in the Global Energy Industry which is delivered jointly between Strathclyde Business School and our Spanish partner institution, Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICADE, had a great week in Madrid.

This latest group has students from Spain, Scotland, USA, Brazil, Mexico and Portugal, and all from different divisions within the global company. The diverse mix makes their learning experience hugely impactful as they are analysing the knowledge not only from their own perspective, but also from the perspective of their peers.

The Operations Management module taught in Madrid was delivered by Steve Paton, Strathclyde Faculty, and Javier García and Tomás Gomez from Comillas. The students fully enjoyed being based in the Spanish capital for the week, and they look forward to traveling to Glasgow in June for the next session.

Cohort 3

The third cohort on the Iberdrola MBA in the Global Energy Industry enjoyed their final intensive session as they reach the end of the programme – they are due to graduate in November.

The group were taught Strategic Consulting in Practice by Strathclyde and Comillas faculty. This class gives the students the chance to implement their learnings from the MBA to real life situations for smaller businesses. It also allows the groups to remove themselves from their usual business focus in Iberdrola and immerse their attention to the business they are consulting for.

The group enjoyed their final time together, and are in the process of bringing together their final project submissions.
