Wayfinding workshop

In early March, Alina Bas and Viktor Dörfler (both from the Management Science Department) co-presented a workshop called "Intuitive Wayfinding as a Mode of Knowing" at Google in New York.

The room was full of software engineers who were curious about the concept of wayfinding and how it is applicable to their work. Wayfinding is conceptualised as an intuition-based mode of knowing, where you “know as you go” in contrast with analysis-based navigation, where you “know before you go”. The problem with wayfinding is that it needs to be learned through wayfinding – there is no set-in-stone, fool-proof, always-working recipe for it.
