Dr Derek Bryce, Senior Lecturer in Marketing, and Dr Senija Čaušević, Senior Lecturer, SOAS University of London have had a paper accepted for publication in “Annals of Tourism Research” (ABS 4) titled, “Orientalism, Balkanism and Europe’s Ottoman Heritage”. This paper examines how some historical and religious narratives are often favoured over others in heritage interpretation and the consequences this has for both destination marketers and heritage tourism practitioners in South East Europe, where a complex legacy of Islamic, Christian and Jewish built and intangible heritage exists.
