A paper by Dr Grant Allan, Dr Scott McGrane and Professor Graeme Roy (Fraser of Allander Institute and Department of Economics) and co-authored by Tom Baer from Stanford University was recently published in Environmental Science and Policy.
The paper, titled, “Scotland's industrial water use: Understanding recent changes and examining the future” looks at links between economic activity and water use in Scotland. Specifically, it examines recent changes in water use and what possible future economic and climate developments might mean for Scotland’s economy, including opportunities in a changing climate and the role of new technologies.
This is the first publication building on recent engagement between SBS and Stanford funded through the Global Engagements Fund and is part of Strathclyde’s involvement in the wider Global Environmental Measurement and Monitoring (GEMM) network linking research in North America and the UK with partners in New Zealand.
SBS will continue to strengthen the working relationship with GEMM partners in California (Stanford, University of California Berkeley, the California Governor’s Office) when Drs Scott McGrane and Grant Allan will visit Stanford from April 18 until May 2, identifying further work streams and potential opportunities for funding research at the environment and policy interface.
