Business MOOC runs for 7th session

The MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) by Dr Viktor Dörfler from Management Science started on April 20. This is the 7th run of the course, which has so far attended by 30,000+ participants. The course is primarily designed for people with backgrounds other than business, but it gets to the state of the art very quickly. Some former MBA students reported that it was a fun way to refresh and reconsider what they have learned a few years ago.

Dr Dorfler said, “Regardless what you studied, when you start to work you find yourself embedded in the world of modern business and organisations. This course is a jump-start intro into this world. It is about the 'big picture' - so we won't get into the details of specific business areas but you will find it easier to understand the specific details once you developed your own 'big picture'. I explain the world of business through the four major forces that I believe shape it: knowledge, technology, ethics and globalisation-localisation. We start from the basis, get quickly to the state of the art, and go beyond, introducing ideas that are not accepted yet but are possible future directions. At the end, you will have the chance to apply what you learned - and be surprised how much you did.”
