All students who complete Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice (ETP) as part of their undergraduate degree at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship will automatically receive SISA level 1 certificate.
The ETP course has been awarded SISA accreditation for 2020/2021. SISA is a skills development programme run by the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) in partnership with four of Scotland’s Innovation Centres; the Digital Health and Care Institute, the Data Lab, CENSIS, and the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre.
The Entreprepreneurship Theory and Practice (ETP) course is the flagship first year undergraduate course for the Hunter Centre’s BA Business Enterprise Degree programme. The course explores entrepreneurship and the wider enterprise business environment. Students study numerous theoretical concepts relating to entrepreneurship, design thinking, creativity and innovation management, market analysis, strategic planning, operations, marketing and the role of the digital environment, as well as growth and internationalisation. Illustrated with real-life examples, as well as the opportunity of running a business, ETP aims to provide students with a critical understanding of the process of entrepreneurship both in theory and in practice.
Dr Julie McFarlane, Director of Learning at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, said, "We are delighted that ETP has been chosen to be accredited by SISA. This is a fantastic opportunity that will allow our students to further develop the skills learned in class and give them the confidence to interact with the wider entrepreneurial ecosystem in Scotland. This accreditation award adds another dimension to their studies."
SISA has been designed to help students develop their ability to innovate and to give them the confidence to think and act as future change makers. Each level of the programme is aimed at helping students identify key milestones in their development and demonstrate their capacity for innovative thinking to future employers.
Level 1 of SISA provides an opportunity for students to recognise the innovation skills they have developed within the curriculum. ETP students who are awarded level 1 will be allowed to progress to level 2 and 3. Level 2 will see students build on their skills and apply them to societal challenges in multidisciplinary teams while level 3 will show they can demonstrate an intent to innovate and take action.
