MIBML students successfully placed on Virtual Industry Projects

SBS Exchange is delighted that so many businesses have, over recent months, provided our students with virtual placements. The University took the decision to cancel European and international exchange in S1 so our MIBML undergraduate students were unable to travel abroad to start their compulsory year at a partner institution to immerse themselves in the language they are studying.

We are proud to announce that all 39 students in this position have now been placed on virtual projects in Spain, France, Italy, Canada and Mexico. We were able to reach a wide network of contacts through LinkedIn, colleagues reaching out to their contacts and through our supportive alumni across the globe.

Some of the placements we sourced were in varying sectors, and include companies like: The Old Curiosity Gin, Heineken Mexico, GP Bullhound, La Martiniquaise-Bardinet, Biometria Aplicada, CLIR, Saint Amans, Crayon IT solutions and Cutitronics.

One of our students based with the Old Curiosity Gin emailed to say,“I’m really enjoying it! I feel I’ve settled into a good routine now and it’s been nice to start using my language more again. It’s been interesting to work with a real life company and learn more about the export process. I feel very much part of the team at the Old Curiosity and I’m looking forward to the next couple of months to continue working with them.”

A student with La Matiniquaise-Bardinet said, “Given that my year abroad has been postponed, I am really excited to have a focus once again. I cannot wait to get started on what I am sure will be an amazing project that will give me the opportunity to develop both my business and my French language skills.”

A student on the Crayon IT solutions project said, “Thanks to the brilliant work that Strathclyde Business School has put into alleviating our situation, an alternatively prestigious solution was provided to me. I now have an internship position as Privacy Analyst at Crayon. I usually don't like clichés, but I firmly believe now that everything happens for a reason and you just need to trust the process! I'm looking forward to giving 1000% in my new position and to gain some significant skills in the new-to-me privacy sector.”
