PrOPEL Hub international research seminar

Professor Colin Lindsay will be running an international research seminar on February 3 as part of the PrOPEL Hub.  The key speakers are Professor Jari Hakanen and Dr Janne Kaltiainen who will be drawing on longitudinal survey research undertaken with employees in Finland before and during the Covid19 pandemic.

The Covid19 pandemic has fundamentally changed the way we work, requiring a wide-spread shift to homeworking that looks set to remain a feature of working life in the future. Although, pre-Covid, self-determined homeworking was positively associated with employee wellbeing, the student requirement that many workers perform their usual roles at home poses a number of risks to wellbeing.

With a focus on Finland, this seminar will discuss changes in homeworking and teleworking, changes in working conditions, and impacts on employee experience and wellbeing.

This session is the first in the PrOPEL Hub’s International Research Series which showcases the latest research on the role of workplaces in driving engagement and productivity in a post COvid 19 world. Delivered by internationally-recognised academics, the series provides a platform to share findings on ‘what works’ in driving productivity and increasing employee engagement and well-being.
