‘Graduation’ with a difference

While Covid means the summer graduations couldn’t go ahead as normal in the Barony, those eligible to graduate still received their awards on June 30. Many shared photographs of their own unique way of marking the occasion with us online – some chose to recreate graduation photographs at the Barony or Rottenrow Gardens’ iconic stone archway; some with friends and family in their gardens; and one new graduate chose to celebrate it by going on a rollercoaster for the first time.

Graduation in the garden

Fiona Kane, who graduated with a BA in Accounting and Finance, chose to celebrate - like many - with a small gathering of family and friends in her garden which included her 92-year-old grandmother. However, Fiona had another special element to her ‘graduation’ - one of her neighbours is Strathclyde Business School academic Professor Sarah Dodds which meant Sarah was able to pop in to help Fiona mark the occasion of her graduation with the help of borrowed robes and parchment – Fiona's gown was borrowed from the photographer who lives next door to her and the parchment from her brother's girlfriend, incidentally one of Strathclyde’s law graduates.

Everyone at Strathclyde Business School would like to congratulate all those who graduated this summer and extend best wishes for your future plans!
