PhD student wins Professor Steve Gallivan Award

Congratulations go to PhD student Le Nguyen, Department of Management Science, who has won the ORAHS (Operations Research Applied to Health Services) Conference “Professor Steve Gallivan Award” for the best presentation and discussion by a PhD student.

The prize is awarded to early-career scholars for the most promising work demonstrating collaboration between research and health organisations. The selection process is conducted by a panel of three or five experts and judged based on: theoretical and practical relevance; novelty; academic rigour; and clarity of presentation.

Le also has a new publication along with Dr Itamar Megiddo, Professor Susan Howick, Dr Bob van der Meer and collaborators from Health and Social Care Lanarkshire on “Impact of visitation and cohorting policies to shield residents from COVID-19 spread in care homes: an agent-based model”: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ajic.2021.07.001
