Online event focuses on Technology in Business

The Scottish Africa Recruitment Group (SCOTARG) has been running a new series of online events for graduates of Scottish universities from, and who have an interest in, the African continent. Scheduled every two months, each online event is focused on one specific thematic area. The event provides attendees with the opportunity to listen to presentations from academics in the sector and engage with current debates and conversations, to learn from fellow alumni about their experiences, and hear how they have progressed in their career since graduating from a Scottish university.

This latest event focused on 'Technology in Business' and took place online on January 27.

Professor Alec Morton

Strathclyde Business School's Professor Alec Morton, head of the Management Science Department, introduced the event and gave an overview of the Technology in Business sector, as well as moderated the question and answer session at the end. James Bowden, Programme Director of the MSc Financial Technology, then gave an overview of the Financial Technology Sector.

The event also heard from two alumni. Riaz Moola, a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, is now CEO and Founder of HyperionDev and CoGrammar and he talked about his journey 'from Graduation to Present' while Lilian Chinelo, a University of Glasgow graduate, talked about 'Moving into the Technology Sector'.

SCOTARG's first event of the series was on the health sector, followed by an event focused on climate held to tie in with Cop26. It will be hosting other online sessions in this event series across 2022 with future topics to include Governance and Education.
