Professor Emma Macdonald has been appointed as Charles Huang Chair in International Business and Director of the Stephen Young Institute.
Professor Macdonald’s international reputation in marketing, her experience working with leading global brands as well as entrepreneurial startups, and her award-winning research means she will be in a strong position to deliver Dr Charles Huang’s vision for the Stephen Young Institute as a leading centre for international business, entrepreneurship, innovation and marketing.
Professor Macdonald joins Strathclyde Business School from Warwick Business School where she held leadership roles on Warwick’s highly ranked MSc Marketing & Strategy and London ExecMBA programmes. She was at Cranfield School of Management for ten years where she was head of the Marketing & Sustainability faculty group. She was also Co-Director of the Cranfield Customer Management Forum (CCMF) and led a highly popular executive programme on Customer Experience Strategy. Her research has been acknowledged in an ESRC impact case, named “best of the best” by InnovateUK, was invited to Glasgow’s COP26 Green Zone, and has won several international journal, academic, and practitioner prizes.
Professor Macdonald said, “I’m excited to be the inaugural Director of the Stephen Young Institute and to carry on the legacy of Professor Stephen Young who was clearly an inspiring mentor. I’m proud to be named the Charles Huang Chair in International Business and look forward to working with students and colleagues across Strathclyde Business School and across the University as well as with entrepreneurs and researchers across the world whose work will be supported by the institute.”
