SBS Teaching and Knowledge Exchange Excellence Awards 2023/2024
Strathclyde Business School again celebrated excellence in both Teaching and Knowledge Exchange, at an awards ceremony on May 30.
There were four categories for teaching and four Dean awards for Tutors. Professor Susan Howick, SBS Vice Dean, Academic, reflected,
Once again, the nominations demonstrated all the innovative teaching practices being implemented within SBS and the support our staff give to enhance the student experience.
The winners were:
Effective and Sustained Contribution to the Student Learning Experience: Grant Allan (Economics)
Outstanding Support Staff: Lauren Beattie (Faculty Office)
Student Support and Building a Sense of Community: Katie Henderson (Accounting & Finance)
Teaching Innovation: Tom Bourkel (WEO) & Anthea Mendes (Marketing)
Dean’s Recognition for Outstanding Tutoring:

Knowledge exchange was also celebrated, within four categories and two Dean’s awards. Professor Lesley Walls, SBS Vice Dean, Knowledge Exchange, said, “It is great to see all the varied knowledge exchange being undertaken and the impact being made across society, business and other external organisations. It was difficult to pick the winners due to the strength of the nominations.”

Dean’s Award for Exceptional Individual Contribution to Executive Education: Marina Livingstone (SEED)
KE Protagonist: Jacqueline Thomson (SEED) and Kathleen Tyrrell (Economics)
Impactful Early Career Academic: James Bonner (Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation)
Innovator with Future Impact: Andrea Tonner (Marketing)
Outstanding Contribution to Knowledge Exchange: JWF KTP Team: Calum Mortimer (KTP Associate), Steve Paton, Harry Sminia (both Management Science) and Billy Wallace (CIS)
