MBA students engage with business

Our MBA students have been engaging with business in a number of ways recently. Our January cohort is now nearing the end of their MBA experience at the project stage, with several groups working with external businesses for their capstone project.

One of these saw MBA students Loan Truong and Anshita Nigam working with Roslyn Eckford of United Industrial Supplies and the company’s brand marketing lead Nikola Grabacic from Spark & Matter on a project.

Roslyn said, “I found myself back at Strathclyde Business School 25 years after graduating to kick off an exciting collaboration with MBA students Loan and Anshita and our brand marketing lead Nikola.

“It was inspiring to gain fresh perspectives on our business challenges from these talented individuals and a humbling reminder that learning never stops. Through their customer research and strategic support, we look forward to seeing where this journey will take us as we continue our commitment to company growth and innovation.”

At the beginning of their MBA journey, our new full time MBA cohort were involved in a business challenge that Iain Morrison, Global Practitioner and MBA programme director, ran with the class together with Darren Cryans, managing director of Instant Impact Group.

Darren founded the company back in 2006 when he was just 16 years old. Now a major player in the commercial ground maintenance field in Scotland, Darren’s focus and commitment to quality have driven exceptional growth, both geographically and through the addition of services such as facilities management.

Darren presented his business to our students and spoke candidly about the challenges that come with such rapid growth. He invited the students to suggest solutions, and they eagerly split into groups to tackle the issue of maintaining high standards while continuing to expand.

The proposed solutions were varied and insightful, offering Darren several strategies to consider.

Iain said, “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Darren for his invaluable contribution to supporting the MBA students at Strathclyde Business School. Additionally, I commend the students for their immense effort in presenting value-driven and evidence-based solutions.”

Darren said, “It was an incredible privilege to work alongside the new MBA Business Administration students at Strathclyde Business School.

“I was truly blown away and humbled by the experience. The depth of knowledge these experienced students brought to the table was exceptional, and the innovative strategies and concepts they presented to help take Instant Impact Group to the next level were simply unbelievable.

“A huge thank you to Iain Morrison and Strathclyde Business School for hosting me and providing access to such talented individuals. I'm excited for what the future holds with these brilliant minds in action!”
