2026: a year of celebration for our part time and full time MBA programmes
Strathclyde Business School is celebrating two special anniversaries of its renowned MBA programme this year.

Both the full time and part time (Executive MBA) programmes have reached significant milestones, with the full time programme marking its 60th anniversary and the part time programme marking its 50th.
As highly regarded programmes of the pioneering business school, the anniversaries are the perfect time to reflect on what has been done over the last decades and what the future might hold.
Strathclyde was the first in the UK to offer a one year full time MBA back in 1966, allowing professionals to take just one year out of their career to attain the prestigious qualification.
Then in 1976, Strathclyde introduced a part time MBA - innovative for the time and a first for the UK – which allowed students to ‘learn as you earn’, staying in the career pathway while equipping themselves with a highly valued postgraduate degree.
To honour our history, we’ve launched a new anniversary webpage featuring highlights from the past 60 years, alumni testimonials, reunion information, and more. New content will be added each month as we continue the celebration throughout the year.
Professor Alex Dickson, MBA Director, said, “I was appointed to the role of MBA Academic Director in September 2025, and it is an honour and a privilege to be custodian of the Strathclyde MBA during the year in which we reach these important milestones.
At Strathclyde Business School we have a long tradition of MBA education that incorporates deep industry engagement, a true embodiment of the University’s primary purpose as the place of useful learning. What’s great about these milestones is the impetus to engage with alumni, to learn what everyone is now doing and how the Strathclyde MBA has made a difference to their lives and careers. I’m really looking forward to the year ahead and learning about all the amazing things our MBA graduates of the past have been up to!
