SWUFE hosts Strathclyde delegation

Following the initial visit of a delegation from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) to the University of Strathclyde in March, a delegation from Strathclyde Business School was in turn welcomed to the Liulin campus of SWUFE in Chengdu by President Professor Li Yongqiang and Vice President Professor Li Zhisheng, alongside colleagues from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and the School of Finance.

President Li Yongqiang and Strathclyde Business School’s Associate Principal and Executive Dean David Hillier held productive discussions on the development of the proposed SWUFE/SBS collaborative education programmes, with both sides reaffirming their strong commitment to the joint initiative.

The delegation was also given a tour of the Liulin campus, hosted by Professor Luo Ronghua, Dean of the School of Finance and Institute of Chinese Finance Studies. Further meetings took place in the school, during which programme details were agreed efficiently and collaboratively, reflecting the shared ambition of both institutions to advance the partnership successfully.

Professor Mark Cummins, Department of Accounting and Finance, presented further detailed information on the SBS Fintech Research Cluster and Financial Regulation Innovation Lab (FRIL), opening discussions on potential joint research initiatives and highlighting additional opportunities for academic collaboration between the two institutions.

The visit marked another positive step forward in strengthening the relationship between Strathclyde Business School and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics.

During the same trip, the SBS delegation and colleagues from the Humanities and Social Sciences faculty were welcomed to the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) for a visit to strengthen and further develop the long-term international partnership between the two institutions.

Alongside colleagues from both faculties, Professor David Hillier, Associate Principal and Executive Dean of Strathclyde Business School, and Professor Ian Rivers, Associate Principal and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, met with their counterparts at BIT including Professor Yiming Wei, Vice President of BIT, and Professor Tian Song, Dean, School of Education at BIT.

Professor Rivers also gave a guest lecture to BIT students on the theme 'Who Programmes the Programmer' during the visit.
