Strathclyde Business School SBS IT Support

Accounts & Access

Username and password

All students at Strathclyde have their own IT login account. This single account consists of your Directory Services (DS) username (which will look like “abc12345”) and your eMail address which will be of the format firstname.surname.year@uni.strath.ac.uk (e.g. joe.bloggs.2022@uni.strath.ac.uk).

Your IT login account gives you access to all University computer systems, including those that hold your personal information.

You are required to keep your account secure: this means that you should not share the password with anyone. We will never ask you to reveal your password, and will not email you with links to any website which asks you to supply your login details.

How do I get my IT Login Username and Password?

The University supplies your account details to you as part of your application and prior to your first day at University. This email will give instructions on how to set your own password using our online Password Reset tool and setup Multi Factor Authentication.

If you haven’t received these details, please take ID to the Information Services helpdesk on Level 3 of the Andersonian Library and the staff there will be able to assist you.

How do I reset my password?

Know your password but want to change it?

Login to PEGASUS and select the 'Change password' link in the 'Services' section on the left hand navigation panel.

Don't know your username or password?

Follow this 'Password Reset' link.

On successful submission and verification of this information, you will receive an email or SMS text message (depending on what information you provided). You will then have 2 days to reset your password.

If you haven’t received this email, please take ID to the Information Services helpdesk on Level 3 of the Andersonian Library and the staff there will assist you.

MFA - Multi Factor Authentication

The University uses Multifactor Authentication across all users and you will be asked to configure this at first login.

MFA works in a similar way to banks and other secure online services, where it will occasionally challenge a user for a 2nd code (Usually via a “Microsoft Authenticator” app or via a text message) when they login. MFA will effect logins to eMail, Office 365, Pegasus and other services which use your email to login, such as Zoom, Teams, OneDrive and MyPlace. It will only challenge users who are off-campus.

We recommend that you have 2 forms of identification configured in MFA (The authenticator app and a mobile phone number). By setting up 2 forms of identification, it is easier to authenticate if you are having issues with the application and more straightforward when you come to setup a new phone. For further details on MFA please visit the University MFA page
