Online class development

Copyright is a key part of University life. Non-compliance can lead to loss of access to resources by all staff and students and financial/reputational damage to the University. The University Regulations (6.13) set out the formal responsibilities of staff.

Copyright protects literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works as well as films, sound recordings and broadcasts. With the focus of this work being conducted online, it is crucial that we create materials in line with current copyright legislation.

The following resources provide guidance on how to produce learning materials that are copyright compliant.

The following guidelines relate specifically to the creation of pre-recorded audio and video i.e. planned recording of material and outlines the copyright, performance rights and moral rights. A consent form is also included within the guidance with regards to these rights.
