In Strathclyde Business School we have a small team of Video Producers focused on creating content for online learning, marketing material and other online video and audio requirements.
We work closely with the academics and learning technologist to find the best visual techniques to enable and enhance the learning experience.
This video shows how we will take a video recorded at home and the accompanying slides to edit and enhance the visual learning experience.
.
Videos for use in Online Classes fall into two broad styles:
Informal/Pastoral | Teaching |
---|---|
Talk informally to the student about how to approach the class, the learning activates, discussions, etc. you can refer in these videos to what has gone before and what might be coming up, e.g. "moving on from what we covered last week..." Should be 1 - 2min | Designed to be reused so, Don't mention the class name or class code, Don't refer to what has gone before or coming up, each lesson is stand alone and we don't want to have to re-do if the order changes. Try not to 'date' the recording by references to current events if possible. |

Under remote working conditions this conversational type of video is replaced by a self recorded 'Talking Head' style video which can either be created using a webcam or DSLR if you have one. | Teaching videos could either be 'Talking Head' or 'Slides with a Voice Over' which can be created either using Powerpoint or Camtasia. |
