Equipment for Recording Video from Home

Camera:

Stock permitting, we recommend both the Logitech 920 and 925e, which are high quality, Full HD webcams with stereo mics.  Whilst not rivalling the quality of the studio cameras, they offer a full 1080p HD output for home recording.

Mics:

Depending on your discussions with the video professionals, we are recommending two different mics.  The “tie-clip mic” helps to reduce background noise if you are filming in a slightly noisy environment, and a “condenser mic” gives a better quality output, but only if you are able to record with no background noise in the room.

Handwriting:

Where academics require to use live-handwriting within their teaching videos or Zoom calls, we have been recommending the purchase of “Wacom” writing tablets.  

The Wacom One tablets (Circa £400) acts as a display for your laptop which you are able to write on with a digital pen (similar to a tablet with a pen). The cheaper Wacom Intuos M (Circa £160) is a bluetooth enabled, pen-controlled drawing pad.  Both support Windows 10’s ink capability and allow writing on Powerpoint and other Office products.

Keyboards/Mice/Monitors

We can also supply external keyboards and mice for those without them, network cables to avoid the need to use WiFi (for more reliable Zoom sessions), and supply AV cables to allow you to run your work monitor at home.
