Questions and Answers:

The students who will opt for Virtual Incubator Project will be considered eligible to apply for start up endorsements from SEN/University if selected? As I understand taking the path about dissertation and being highly successful in Masters Programme will lead to the route towards PhD. Is it also possible that someone opts for VIP and scored very good in the programme and wants to be considered for funded PhD as well? Thank you in advance for answering.
Ranjit Das

Hi

several questions there. There is no funding available from the department for students who wish to set up their own venture but certainly the Strathclyde Entrepreneurial Network (SEN) can provide free resources to help students start their venture - office space, pcs, etc.

It would be harder for a student who did the VIP to be considered for a PhD. In most universities doing a dissertation is proof that the student can undertake independent research which is what a PhD is. The VIP is a group project and not research based so will not prepare a student for a PhD whilst a dissertation is done as a solo effort and prepares students for the rigour of a PhD.

Is it possible to apply for funded or partially funded PhD in SBS after successful completion of Masters Degree in Entrepreneurial Management and Leadership programme?
Ranjit Das

It is possible. For 2020-21 Semester three has two routes, either a Virtual Incubator Project (VIP) where the student works on their new product's business plan OR a dissertation. You would have to take the dissertation route in order to be considered for a PhD at Strathclyde. The department typically has 2-3 funded PhDs each year and you could be considered for one of them. A masters student from 2018-19 is now studying for a PhD within the department.

Dear Mr. Ranjit Das Thank you very much for your reply. It is certainly nice to know about participants from several countries participated in 2019-2020. I am looking forward to join this September. I am hopeful that we can have a real life experience than virtual. I am waiting for the CAS to arrive so I can make necessary arrangements. September is not too far. :) Thank you.

Hi Amitava

as you have probably been advised, the programme will be online for the first few weeks but all students are expected to be on campus by 26th October so that we can move to face-to-face teaching in November. Of course with Covid issues unfolding daily, all plans are provisional on the prevailing circumstances.

Hello, I am wondering if it's possible to transfer to an Integrated Masters course as I am currently going into my 4th year.
Ranjit Das

Hi,

We are not allowed to offer an integrated Masters at the moment. It may be better to write directly to me since this is an open channel so everyone can see your comments - ranjit.das@strath.ac.uk

I have paid the tuition fees last week. I am curious to know whether I will receive any checklist or draft CAS before receiving the original CAS? Can you kindly let me know when I can expect to receive it as I need to make all other linked arrangements to apply for the visa?
Joanne Bryce

Our central admissions team will do one final check that all documentation is i place and then they will issue your CAS letter.

Ranjit Das

Hi, welcome onboard, you will love the course. My colleague Pauline is responsible for recruitment and she can confirm the exact arrangements but we will provide a confirmation of acceptance for studies so that you can apply for your visa. In 2019-20 there were people from 17 different countries so its a very international course.
