Strathclyde Business School awarded further EQUIS reaccreditation

Strathclyde Business School has been reaccredited by EQUIS for a further five years. This follows a rigorous review process which involved a peer review team of Deans from accredited schools assessing the business school against stringent international criteria in January.  The Peer Review Report was subsequently presented to the EQUIS Accreditation Board, and our reaccreditation has been approved and confirmed for the maximum five-year period.

The fundamental objective of EQUIS is to raise the standard of management education worldwide. It focuses on all management programmes an institution offers, from a first degree to the PhD, and looks at research, executive education provision and community outreach. In addition, EQUIS is intended to provide recognition that accredited institutions are not only attaining high standards in their national market but are also credible internationally. Accordingly, institutions accredited by EQUIS must demonstrate high quality in all dimensions of their activities and extensive internationalization.

Accreditation is about excellent and continuous quality improvement linked to the business school's strategy, vision and leadership.

EQUIS – managed and run by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) - is one of three international accreditation bodies.  Strathclyde is accredited by all three accrediting bodies –EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB - and SBS was the first school in Scotland to be accredited by EQUIS in 2001.

Professor David Hillier, Associate Principal and Executive Dean of Strathclyde Business School, said, "We are delighted that Strathclyde Business School has been reaccredited by EQUIS for the maximum five years, strengthening our position as one of the world’s leading business schools. I am grateful to our staff, students, alumni and corporate colleagues involved in the reaccreditation process. The whole Strathclyde community is proud that our Business School has been awarded yet another period of continuous EQUIS reaccreditation.

"The Business School first received EQUIS accreditation in 2001, and I'm pleased to say we have held it consistently since then. The rigorous accreditation process ensures that our offer at Strathclyde is of the highest international standards. This is a testament to the professionalism of our staff at Strathclyde Business School and our outstanding students who join us in their studies from around the world. In addition, for those thinking of coming to work or study at Strathclyde, accreditation stands as an independent benchmark of the quality of the school and the work that goes on here."

As of May 2023, 209 business schools have been awarded EQUIS across 45 countries. For further information on EQUIS and accreditation, please click here https://www.efmdglobal.org/accreditations/business-schools/equis
