Hunter Centre celebrates its first ever graduates

The Hunter Centre were delighted to celebrate the graduation on July 13 of the first ever graduates from the BA Business Enterprise pathway with their families.

Congratulations go to all students especially Donald Rae, Andrew MacKay and James Gilliland, single honours students who achieved first class honours, along with Yva Yorston and Joseph Capaldi who received first class honours with joint degrees.

The Business Enterprise pathway was introduced in 2007, to build on and complement the range of modules already provided to students across the university. The numbers of students taking the pathway has increased significantly since then and the Hunter Centre is looking forward to welcoming the new cohort of honours students next year.

The pathway gives students the opportunity to interact with the entrepreneurial and SME community throughout their four years with guest lecturers, project work, group and individual placements. The single honours students participate in Venture Management in Practice class, a placement programme that gives them the opportunity to explore what it is really like managing an entrepreneur-managed business and to explore the issues that affect business success.

Both single and joint honours students also have the opportunity to participate in a family business class which allows them to gain insights into the unique nature of family business. The class was highly interactive with students working on a different case each week and guest lecturers from the Forum for Family Business Advisors, which is hosted at the Hunter Centre, keen to share their knowledge with the students.
