Global practitioner initiative shortlisted for Best Innovation Strategy Award 2024
Strathclyde Business School's Global Practitioner initiative has been shortlisted for AMBA's Best Innovation Strategy Award 2024.
Shortlisted entries will now be judged by an external panel of expert judges and the overall winner will be announced at AMBA (Association of MBAs) and BGA's Gala Dinner and Excellence Awards in London on January 19, with gold, silver and bronze prizes for each category.
The Best Innovation Strategy Award celebrates innovation and radical thinking in business education delivery across all areas of a business school and the award was developed to recognise and reward game-changing new practices, risks and creativity around a school's programmes.
Associate Principal and Executive Dean of Strathclyde Business School David Hillier said, "We're delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award and we are looking forward to finding out in January if we have won. Whatever the result though, we are so pleased to get this recognition of our Global Practitioner initiative which has had such a positive impact on our students and our academic teaching in the last year. We have received much positive feedback from our students about their interaction with our Global Practitioners and we know our GPs - many of whom are Strathclyde alumni - have also found the connection a very positive experience. This is great recognition for all involved."
The Global Practitioner initiative was introduced in 2022. It aimed to place practical expertise and content relevance alongside academic knowledge at the heart of our student experience. Bridging theory and practice, Global Practitioners play a crucial role in stimulating and facilitating learning for students. Our GPs come from a range of industries and backgrounds, reflecting the broad nature of subjects addressed in our general management programmes and the variety of students in our learning environment.
MBA Director Lesley Pender added, "In building this community – in the UK and overseas – we hope to redefine the standards for engaged learning in management education. Our GPs have been closely involved in all MBA modules, through development of materials to delivery of lectures and facilitation of discussion sessions. In the Strategic Leadership Development module within our MBA programme, for instance, GPs played a vital role of not only bringing their expertise around leadership to the forefront, but also using their personal and professional development knowledge to facilitate global meet-ups across our international MBA centres, curating live challenges for students from business and generating a global community of learning through diversity of thought and experience."
